DTN COMMENTS: The cash market is naturally untested at midday as packers and
feedlot managers complete the distribution of new showlists. It looks like the
pre-holiday offerings is generally smaller with only Nebraska showing more
ready steers and heifers.
Beef cut-outs at midday are significantly higher, up $1.31 (select: $184.56) to
$1.36 (choice: $203.23) with tight box movement (ch: 27 lds; sel: 19 lds; trim:
6 lds; ground beef: 6 lds). Reversing from early session strength, most cattle
futures are moderately lower at midday with only spot Dec holding higher
grounds thanks to feedlot strength on display Friday.
For the weekending December 09, 2017, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the
U.S. totaled 36,066, 91.68% of the previous week and 101.70% of the prior 4
